Building a brighter future for the communities in which we operate

About the IIF

The Infrastructure Industry Foundation (IIF) was set up to unite the infrastructure industry with the ambition of using impactful philanthropy to donate to worthy charitable causes close to the industry, helping to build a brighter future for the communities in which we operate.

The IIF was conceived in response to the tragic diagnosis of one of our industry colleagues with a vicious and rare form of cancer, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC). The inaugural fundraising dinner, held in 2019, was in support of a potentially life-saving ACC research project, The Ella Project.

Through annual events we aim to bring the infrastructure sector together to socialise and network whilst raising funds to support causes that are close to the hearts of those in the industry.

The subsequent cause was social mobility, in recognition of the importance and potential for greater diversity across the industry.  This year we will be supporting several new charities.

The IIF was conceived in response to the tragic diagnosis of one of our industry colleagues with a vicious and rare form of cancer, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC). The inaugural fundraising dinner, held in October 2019, was in support of The Ella Project, fundraising £215,000 to support life-saving research into ACC.

Our dear colleague Ella Pinney lost her fight with ACC however Ella’s legacy lives on through the Ella Project. We encourage IIF members to celebrate the life and legacy of Ella throughout this fundraising event and to donate to our original cause to support further research into ACC.

The Social Mobility Initiative was established with a mission to both empower and equip those from least advantaged backgrounds and to inspire young people through greater awareness and understanding of the industry – with the ultimate aim to attract a greater array of talent to the industry.

The initiative works with a diverse portfolio of proven partners in the social mobility space addressing different barriers and with different theories for change. As well as financial grants the initiative provides multiple ways for those in the industry to help address this issue.
